I was recently invited onto The Investor's Podcast to talk shop with Preston Pysh and Stig Brodersen. You can listen to the show on the TIP website here or listen to it on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

It was a real honor to be invited on as I started my value investing education back in 2013 by watching a series of videos Preston made about Warren Buffett and Value Investing.

On the show we talked about my investment approach and then took a dive into some of the stocks I've written up here on the blog.

Hi David,

I got here from listening to the podcast! Just wanted to say thank you for the ideas given on places to look at before making a decision on investments. For someone like me who just got into the world of stocks market only couple months ago, it opened my eyes on it not being merely a way to gamble and hope for the best, but give an insight on companies and decide on what is most likely to happen with them in the future. I still am building my knowledge on everything stocks related and not putting much of the money into it, but hoping to start soon (after my 1st big investment is made - 1st house). So again, thank you for sharing your techniques publicly and hopefully keep on making them $$$.

Oh p.s. Would you be my mentor? Haha.

Thanks for listening and for taking an interest in my work. Unfortunately I'm very busy at present so don't have much free time for mentoring but I think my blog and those of other investors are a really helpful way to learn about stocks and investing.

Terrific podcast David. I follow a similar approach to you though I will candidly admit I have been bitten on the bum by a few ‘value traps’ so my big takeaway from your discussion was the disciplined approach you take to buying and the use of charts to determine the point of absolute pessimism. Thank you. Also, I have been looking purely in my own market...Aust & NZ. Given I use Stockopedia as a resource base I will begin to study the UK. Am reluctant to invest in countries which don’t follow a Westminster style of law because it’s too difficult to comprehend justice systems and culture. Again, thank you.

Thank you for your kind words and for taking an interest in my work. The US, UK, Europe and Japan are all good places to look for undervalued illiquid nano-caps. Happy hunting!

BTW one study found a strong small cap effect for stocks with a market cap below 25 Mio. and another study below 5 Mio. So I think you do not have to go lower than e.g. 1 Mio.
